Official Languages While Canada has many languages spoken within it (as a result as multiple cultures), the official languages of it are English, and French. The only official language in the States, however, is English. I believe that this makes a big difference between the two countries; it shows that Canada welcomes people of all cultures and languages, and brings us all together into one nation.

In this instance, I believe both the Americans and the Canadians are each unique; each flag represents their country very well. The Canadian flag shows the remembrance of the fallen soldiers in the red coloring, as well as the number of provinces and territories shown by each point of the maple leaf. The American flag has a stripe for each of the thirteen original colonies, as well as 50 stars for each of it’s 50 states. In this case, I believe both flag is very unique. Flags

Media For a long time, media from the States has been far superior. Many popular movies were made and produced there (as well as the actors/actresses being from there), most popular musicians lived there, etc. However, now, Canada is catching up! For a while now, many successful entertainers have been sprouting from our own country, as well as many movies being filmed here (mainly in Toronto and Vancouver). While the States is still superior in this category, Canada is well on it’s way to making itself further known.

Approach to Immigrants The approach to the immigrants in Canada is very different from the United States. In Canada, you might say our approach is somewhat like a mosaic or a salad, even. Like a salad, there are many different ingredients (or cultures) that go into making the salad, but each is still very apparent and they go into making something wonderful together. In the States, they welcome immigrants, but everybody (like a melting pot) just becomes what they want them to be, together.

Health Care Health care is often a tender topic with citizens of the United States, but it’s no wonder when they’re in the position that they are. In the United States of America, if your child gets sick and you don’t have Health Insurance, you may have to choose one month between paying for your child’s medicine, or paying for food. In Canada, we are extremely lucky to have the health care that we do. If your child gets sick and you’re a Canadian citizen, you don’t have to think about it; you just get them taken care of, no worries!

Canada is Unique! In many ways, Canada and the United States are very much alike. But c’mon…. Being similar never hurt anyone. In many ways, Canada is unique, and special! There is proof of this in previous slides. Canada has it’s own special traditions, foods, and wonderful citizens! If you ever start doubting your country, just think about some of Canada’s accomplishments; your health care, your cultural diversity, and of course, my personal favorite….. POUTINE! =)
