Allergies

 Food and/or Airborne Allergies affect a large percentage of the American population!  Symptoms can be from the obvious to the not so obvious:  Red, itchy watery Burning EYES, Runny, itching, watery burning NOSE, excess ear wax production and recurrent ear infections  Sneezing, coughing, Asthma, Hives, Eczema, Psoriasis, Allergic Dermatitis, Migraine Headaches, Fatigue, Chronic muscle and/or joint pain, Intestinal gas/bloating, inflammation, irritable bowel syndrome, mucus and ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease  Cerebral allergies affecting the way we think and behave!

A number of predisposing factors to allergy are: Lack of nursing. Breast milk has antibodies that help protect the infant from allergy development Introducing Wheat, Milk, Eggs, Meat into an infants diet before 1 year of age. A babies digestive system needs time to develop the capacity for adequate enzyme production to digest these foods Eating the same foods over and over again. Lack of variety in our diets. Frequent exposure to the same food gives our immune systems more opportunity to develop antibodies against the food Eating Refined foods with little nutritional value such as white flour, sugar, junk foods, sweets, etc. Why do so many people have allergies today?

Excessive exposure to Rx Antibiotics which destroy our beneficial resident bacterial flora and lead to yeast overgrowth Excessive exposure to steroidal hormones which thin our mucosal membranes allowing foreign allergens easier penetration into our bodies (food, chemical and airborne pollen) Suppression of our protective surface hormone – Secretory IgA. This antibody binds to allergens at our bodies mucosal surfaces (eye, nasal, lungs, intestines) and helps carry them out of our body The resultant imbalance of our T Lymphocyte and Mast cell cellular function leading to the release of Histamine, Leukotrienes and other inflammatory mediators

First – Find out specifically what you are sensitive to so you can avoid or minimize exposure – ie rest your immune system Modified Elimination Diet and/or specific allergy testing such as IgG/IgE Serum Allergy testing Skin testing is NOT accurate for food allergy detection but IS accurate for contact or airborne allergen detection So How Do We Deal With Allergies?

Conclusion Take care of your health! Be Proactive! Get thorough checkups and be a good steward of your health Why? To live a longer, healthier, more enjoyable life – to be better able to serve our LORD Take care of your health! Be Proactive! Get thorough checkups and be a good steward of your health Why? Dr. Wood how do you help your allergy patients nutritionally?

Avoid Food allergens and minimize exposure to airborne allergens (air-filters can be helpful) NEXT: Stabilize mast cells with Quercetin Reduce Histamine with: Nettles, Bromelain and other enzymes Increase Vitamin C and Pantothenic Acid intake to support your adrenal glands Balance T Lymphocytes with: Plant Phytosterols Desensitize with dilutions of your specific allergens (oral desensitization drops) Improve your digestion of food by correcting bowel flora imbalances. (Kill yeast, re-establish healthy bacteria, heal ‘leaky’ intestinal lining, supplement with digestive enzymes. Rotate your foods to diversify your diet!
