Heartulness Wellness Program

Introduction to Heartfulness Meditation Heartfulness Meditation Programs are developed by the Heartfulness Institute, associated with the Sahaj Marg Spirituality Foundation (SMSF), a non-profit organization founded in 1999. Programs include Self-development and leadership skills program to universities and colleges Partnership with United Nations Department of Public Information worldwide to jointly promote universal peace and harmony through yoga and meditation Relaxation and meditation wellness programs for businesses and corporations Programs conducted by volunteers who have benefitted from meditation and would like to share with others As a non-profit, these programs are offered free of charge as a public service Welcome guests to the workshop and introduce yourself Make sure everyone has a pen/pencil and sheet of paper Introduce the need for meditation and why we meditate on the heart A unique element of Heartfulness is “yogic transmission” – an energy that is transmitted during the session that allows one to go deeper into meditation. Today you’ll have the opportunity to experience this.

The need for meditation based wellness programs The cost of stress to American businesses is as high as $300 billion World Health Organization Over the last 30 years, self-reported levels of stress have increased 18% for women and 25% percent for men Stress plays a role in a wide array of illnesses high blood pressure, which afflicts nearly 70 million and costs $130 billion a year to treat The CDC estimates 75% of all health care spending is on preventable chronic illnesses Two-thirds of visits to the doctor's office are for stress-related conditions The American Academy of Family Physicians Studies show that U.S. employers spend 200%-300% more for the indirect costs of health care -- in the form of absenteeism, sick days, and lower productivity -- than they do on actual health care payments Business professors Michael Porter, Elizabeth Teisberg, and Scott Wallace wrote in the HBS Working Knowledge Go through the exercises in the workshop. Walk them through an overview of the three exercises. Let them know that there is also a way where we can work deeper with participants, so that they can have deeper and more enriching meditations on their own, which we will go through at the end of the workshop.

What Is Heartfulness? Heartfulness is a quality of wellness achieved by connecting with the heart to create a feeling of one-ness for people, things and places in and around one Self Heartfulness comes from a rich heritage of yoga, meditation and the tradition of Sahaj Marg Depending on the location and demand, we can structure the following types of corporate workshops: 1-hour introductory workshop offering group meditation and relaxation techniques, with tips for employees Multi-week meditation/relaxation training course (typically 3 to 6 weeks) Weekly group meditation for employees Welcome guests to the workshop and introduce yourself Make sure everyone has a pen/pencil and sheet of paper Introduce the need for meditation and why we meditate on the heart A unique element of Heartfulness is “yogic transmission” – an energy that is transmitted during the session that allows one to go deeper into meditation. Today you’ll have the opportunity to experience this.

What is the goal of Heartfulness? Emotional and mental well-being – less anxiety, greater empathy, calmness, relaxation to be felt at mental level Physical well-being – better health with reduced blood pressure, heart rate normalcy, better and deeper sleep, relaxation to be felt at the physical level Inner well-being – to simplify life and to connect with one’s inner nature. This paves the way for peace of mind, inner joy and bliss The results towards these goals can be immediate and palpable; while at the same time sincere efforts and patience will go a very long way. Welcome guests to the workshop and introduce yourself Make sure everyone has a pen/pencil and sheet of paper Introduce the need for meditation and why we meditate on the heart A unique element of Heartfulness is “yogic transmission” – an energy that is transmitted during the session that allows one to go deeper into meditation. Today you’ll have the opportunity to experience this.

Heartfulness Workshops Workshops are experiential, “hearts-on” classes with group meditation, allowing employees to fully experience meditation and deep relaxation Introduction, including the need for meditation Relaxation Technique – a very simple step by step technique that allows relaxation and stress reduction in minutes Guided group meditation – with “yogic energy”, an energy associated with Heartfulness meditation that helps one go deeper Additional Support – Opportunity for deeper connection with Heartfulness, including support at Heartfulness.org, weekly group meditations, and ongoing guided meditations from home Welcome guests to the workshop and introduce yourself Make sure everyone has a pen/pencil and sheet of paper Introduce the need for meditation and why we meditate on the heart A unique element of Heartfulness is “yogic transmission” – an energy that is transmitted during the session that allows one to go deeper into meditation. Today you’ll have the opportunity to experience this.

Developing an effective meditation program Leadership buy in and approval Facility to conduct program on-premises – A quiet room/hall at your premises to be made available to conduct workshops, preferably with projector Access to employee communications – to create awareness for workshops (bulletin boards, emails, internal websites, etc.) Coordinator Support – A point of contact to help us with internal communication, scheduling, venue arrangement, etc. Consideration of weekly meditation group – in order to nurture meditation as a sustainable program within the organization
