Cigarette Smoking isn't cool Cigarette smoking causes deaths of nearly 480,000 people in the United States alone. It causes more deaths than a combination of HIV, alcohol use, illegal drug use, motor vehicle injuries, and firearm related incidents Sadly enough, majority of this deaths are premature in nature Risk of death from smoking has increased in the last 50 years in both men and women This is the reason why I selected this topic. My main aim is to reach out to all smokers in order to cut down on deaths resulting from smoking

Use of tobacco by teens

Use of tobacco by adults

The Problem Every day, more than 3200 individuals below 18 years smoke their first cigarette Approximately 2100 youths and adults become smokers About 1:5 adults and teenagers smoke In 2011 alone, almost 20% of U.s adults smoked cigarettes Another 18% of high scholars in USA smoke cigarettes

Why smoking cigarettes is harmful Most cigarette smokers end up suffering from major health effects which cause their death Research shows an estimated 20 million Americans to have succumbed from cigarette smoking since million of this deaths have been through second hand exposure to cigarette smoke 8.6 million people have a serious disease caused directly by smoking Smokers die premature deaths by up to 13 to 14 years younger than non smokers

Respiratory health problems Approximately 9 in 10 lung cancers are due to smoking cigarettes Almost 8 in 10 cases of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease are due to smoking. COPD has no cure Smoking increases your chances of getting Tuberculosis and dying from it IN young children and teens, is smoking slows down lung growth Lung cancer is the leading cause of death in men and women in the USA.

Effect of Smoking on Our body

Why you should quit smoking You will cut your cardiovascular risks of getting a heart attack Your risk of getting a stroke will fall sharply once you stop smoking Your health risks for other cancers will also drop tremendously once you stop smoking Your risk of getting a lung cancer drops by half ten years after you quit smoking
