New National Curriculum 2014 New National Curriculum 2014 for Key stage 1 and 2 (Years 1-6) To offer a curriculum that is balanced and broad Now “Year group” expectations – rather than levels A curriculum that promotes spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development – both at school and in society (Praised highly Ofsted 2013) Prepares pupils at the school for opportunities, responsibilities and experiences for later life. Also to teach Religious education – a locally agreed policy –Also, personal, social, health and economic education
Assessment Sats tests 2015 – both Y2 and Y6 sats will be assessed as present – in levels From September 2014 – levels as we know, are no longer a statutory requirement – schools can devise their own systems… Our assessment will move to year group expectations, in line with the new curriculum –further details during the autumn term From September 2015 – an on entry assessment in FS2, statutory from 2016 Year 1 phonics check summer term - remains
Reading We have high attainment at both Key stage one and Key stage two We want to encourage all parents to read with their child every day Nagy & Herman 1987 …. (Picture) Have you time to support reading in school?
