Presentation transcript:

Dionicio Siegel – Accessing, Understanding, and Optimizing Compounds We are interested in: Providing synthetic access to unique compounds with promising biological effects Determining the mechanism of action of small molecules Improving the biological performance of compounds, supporting the preclinical advancement of new drug candidates We have participated in projects focused on CNS injury, prostate cancer, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, antibiotic development, geology, materials, agriculture, assay development, synthetic methods………….

Synthetic Organic Chemistry Capability to synthesize target compounds Design and implement synthetic routes to rapidly access analogues Synthesis of probe molecules for the determination of the mechanism of action of selected compounds Study the effects of compounds using C. elegans

Proposed Collaborations with SSPPS Faculty We need new synthetic targets, complex structures with outstanding biological effects Work with collaborators interested in accessing rare compounds, analogue synthesis, and the preparation of biological probes We would like to collaborate on the optimization of leads to improve potency, stability, and bioavailability
