Communication Technology Communication technology is a system that uses technical means to transmit information or data from one place to another or from one person to another (Wright, 2004). Before this technology, people used to send information by giving it to mail carriers on horseback.

Consider… The very first type of communication technology was cave paintings where artists used sticks, grass, or fingers to apply paint to cave walls. Communication is used for a number of purposes, however. It is used to transfer ideas, exchange information, and express emotions. An idea is a mental image of what a person thinks something should be. Communication media can be used to share these ideas (Wright, 2004).

Consider Information is vital to taking an active part in society. It provides a concrete foundation for decision making and action. This information can be as simple as the serving time for lunch. Emotions can also be communicated (Wright, 2004).

Goals of Communication Every communication message is designed to deliver a certain impact. Communication can meet one or more of the three basic goals: Inform Persuade Entertain (Wright, 2004).

Inform Communication informs when providing information about people, events, or relationships. We read books, magazines, and newspapers to obtain information. Radio news programs, television news programs, and documentaries are designed to provide information (Wright, 2004).

Persuade Persuading is when communication attempts to get people to act in a certain way.Persuading is when communication attempts to get people to act in a certain way. Entertainment People are entertained when they participate or observe events and performances. This includes mediums such as television programs, movies, and novels (Wright, 2004).

Communications Model Communication is a process that starts with the action of encoding.
