Best Kept Village: Theme ‘In Remembrance’ How YOU can be involved: 1.Design a poster based on Remembrance (Y7/8/9/10) 2.Write a poem or essay based on the theme of REMEMBRANCE (Y7/8/9/10) 3.Or complete a Painting on the theme. (Y7/8/9/10) Every year Kinver enters the BEST KEPT VILLAGE COMPETITION!! This benefits the Village in many ways including; reward certificates, funding for community projects and a memorial tree. Last year we won! YOU can also volunteer around school: -Tutor Groups will be selected to litter pick and do many other jobs around school, to help keep Kinver presentable. -Some Y8 students will also be involved in volunteering at St. Peters Churchyard. -6 th Form students to help with lower school classes

Y7-10 WRITING COMPETITION PRODUCE AN A4 ILLUSTRATED POEM OR ESSAY (By hand or on a computer) POEM Aim: The poem should be about ‘Remembrance’ It should be your own work. It can be decorated!!!

Y7-10 ART COMPETITION PRODUCE AN A4 PAINTING ON PAPER: BASED ON THE THEME OF REMEMBRANCE Artwork Aim: The painting, drawing, collage, textile piece, photograph should be about ‘Remembrance’ It can include words if you like, or any aspect of the theme- from names of soldiers, places, war memorial, poppies etc… Students can begin by researching the theme and then drawing out a poster/ artwork. Then complete this in as much detail as possible. They are invited to attend art club on a Monday lunchtime to begin this work or do it at home. Please send interested students in my direction Mrs Jarman!!

Painting Ideas:

Students: Please give your entry to Mrs Jarman by 30 th March Deadline 30 th March. Please write you name, school, year group and class on the back of your work- if you don’t, then you will not receive your reward points or possibly a prize!!

You must complete the following questions to submit alongside your poem/artwork. 1.Is there a war memorial in your village or in a village near you? 2.Where is it located? 3.What/whom does it commemorate? 4.Who maintains/ looks after the memorial? 5.What happens each November associated with the memorial? 6.What do you think is the future of memorials? Please put your name, class, age and school on the back of your artwork.
