Global Inventory of Statistical Standards Committee for the Coordination of Statistical Activities (CCSA) 17 th Session New York, 21 February 2011 Agenda item 2 Presentation by UNSD

Background/Objectives Initiative by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography of Mexico (INEGI) Statistical Commission 2010 gives CCSA mandate (progress report 2011); UNECE/UNSD lead task team. Knowledge centre and reference system; needs to be complete, up-to-date, trusted and readily available for users; analytical tool for international organisations and groups, to help identify statistical areas requiring recommendations or standards as well as to identify overlapping standards.

Scope and coverage All official methodological publications of CCSA members; Internationally agreed statistical classifications; Standards published by a body outside the international statistical system, but widely used by statistical organisations (e.g. some ISO standards); Global and regional standards adopted by the relevant global or regional statistical bodies, including regional versions of global standards; Information about previous versions of standards where these are still used.
