Final Exam Project Planning a Trip

Directions Plan a one-day trip for you and your child (age 3 to 12) using the internet to find valuable information. After your research is collected – create a storyboard (graphic organizer of illustrations and words to explain a story) to express your findings to the class. Final Project is due on Monday, June 2, 2014 (12 th ) Final Project is due on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 (10 th and 11 th )

Tips to remember Preschoolers – age 3-5 School-age children – age 6-12 Are curious, love new experiences and can’t wait to explore. But because of their restless energy, you’ll need to make frequent stretch and exercise stops. They get bored easily, so have a variety of activities they can participate in. See the world as new and exciting, full of things to do and discover. Travel can be an exciting educational experience. They have more stamina and can tolerate more physical driving. National parks, museums, factory tours, camping and amusement parks!!!

Storyboards must include: 1. Age and sex of your child 2. Where are you going? Directions? How many miles away? 3. What areas of development is the trip going to foster and how? List at least 2 for each area (Social, Emotional, Intellectual, Physical) 4. A plan of your day – schedule/agenda 5. Any costs that may be accumulated and in detail Ex. Lunch -- $25 at eatery, gas -- $20, admission -- $35

What to include – continued… 6. Potential problems and solutions for each (List at least 2 problems) 7. Write a reflection on your research, why did you choose this place, what could you do differently next time you plan, why is it important to plan ahead, would you be excited to go as a child. 8. List of resources used (websites, books, pamphlets, telephone #, etc…) Should have 2! 9. Pictures relevant to your topic.

Oh, the places you’ll go! Kennywood Idlewild Sandcastle Children’s Museum Carnegie Museum of Natural History Science Center/UPMC Sportsworks Pirate baseball game Cedar Point, Six Flags, Busch Gardens Warhol Museum Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium Aviary Wildwood Highlands North Park Swimming Boyce Park Wave Pool Keystone Lake Gettysburg Kalihari Splash Lagoon Baltimore Aquarium Need More Ideas???? – -- click “Things To Do”
