Gideon Vs Wainwright Louis Jenkins And Jackson Joy

First Case before Appeal The defendant of the case was State of Florida The Plaintiff of the case was Louie L. Wainwright The Prosecutor of the case was the State of Florida. He asked for an Appeal because he was denied a Lawyer.

The Constitutional issues involved in this case. The Supreme Court saw that it was unfair that Gideon was denied a lawyer when he asked for one. This case violated the Sixth Amendment of the United States of America.

Second Trial after Appeal The Prosecution of the case was done by W. Fred Turner. The Defender is the State of Florida. The Plaintiff is Clarence E. Gideon.

The implications of the Supreme Court ’ s opinion. The Supreme Court will not allow any case without an adequate lawyer or attorney given to the defendant. It overruled the Betts vs Brady decision, and prevented it from ever happening again. The United States changed their laws to allow any and all people a right to a Lawyer when given a trial, despite of the circumstances they’re in.
