 Originally a splinter group of Jews practice Christianity and it quickly expanded throughout the non-Jewish community and throughout the Roman Empire.  Came into existence when a Jewish teacher who claimed to be the Son of God, the Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth, whom the Jews had long been awaiting.  Based on the Old and New Testaments of the Bible

 Jesus Christ is the Son of God  Forgiveness of sins and everlasting life is only achievable through the belief in the divinity, death, and resurrection of Christ
