Processing New Books Getting books ready to be placed on our shelves Each step has to be done….no skipping steps. We are looking for quality NOT speed.

First Barcodes Spine Labels Write barcode on front page. Write spine label on front page. (you can use extra stickers if they are provided)

Second Place the correct label protectors on barcode and spine label. Use this chart to help you with colors for Spine Labels only …ALL barcodes label protectors are clear Purple for paperbacks Red for Reference Blue for Biographies Sage for Story Collections Clear for Nonfiction, fiction, and Audio books

Third Stamp the book with the SHS address stamp 1. on front filler page 2. on the Title page 3. on the back filler page 4. on the edge of the book (if space allows)

Processing Audio Books Playaway Audio Books Place a SHS library address label on playaway Connect the lanyard to the playaway Place small sticker with barcode numbers only on the playaway if it is provided

Playaway’s Put the playaway device under the cabinet in the playaway box. Place the barcode label on the case as well as the spine label…put a label protector on both.

Playaways Remove the earbuds. Earbuds cost students $1.00 and they are located under the cabinet by the playaway devices. NEVER RUN THE PLAYAWAYS ACROSS THE DEMAGNETIZER OR THE MAGNETIZER….IT WILL ERASE THE DATA.
