Making a Point Review

Making-a-Point has three parts. 1. a claim or statement 2. details and/or examples to backup the claim or statement 3. a conclusion statement

Paragraph Writing Read the following paragraph. There are two good reasons to allow university students having a part- time job. The first reason is that students and society can find solutions for their financial problems. Unless they earn money, some students cannot attend university due to school fees and living costs. In addition to this, some businesses cannot run without employing students as part-time workers at a low salary. In this way, we can say that students and employers need each other. The second reason regards the socialization of university students. By having a part-time job, they can learn many things; for example, social manner, importance of money/ time, and teamwork. Likewise, they can make friends outside their university. New friends may have different backgrounds, life styles, ways of thinking and age from them. Therefore, students can expose themselves to new values through the part-time jobs. Opponents strongly believe that to have part-time job promotes students financial security and helps them to adjust to society.

Highlight the main parts of the paragraph.
