1. Prediction: to tell something before it happens 2. Hypothesis: a possible answer to a question based on gathered information

3. Experiment: a set of steps designed to test a hypothesis. 4. Observation: any information that describes a trait or characteristic of something gathered by using the five senses.

5. Quantitative Observation: observation that includes a number or measurement. 6. Qualitative Observation: observation that does not include a number or measurement.

7. Inference: forming a conclusion based on observations. 8. Variable: any factor in an experiment that could effect the results and is therefore tested separately.

9. Control: the part of an experiment that serves as a standard to which variables are compared. 10. Data: information collected from observation and experimentation.
