 Role  Audience  Form  Topic Writing Situation  A family in your town has decided to donate a large amount of money to a person,  charity, or cause. Choose a person, a group, or a charity that you think deserves the  money. Directions for Writing  Write a letter to convince the family that your choice should receive the money.  Include details about how the person, the group, or the charity would use the donation. RAFT

 What is your opinion, stance, perspective on the question being asked? State your CLAIM

State your Counter-CLAIM Opinions and reasons that someone who disagrees with you might mention. *Respond to these counterclaims by mentioning them in your essay and explaining why they are wrong. *Then make a final point to convince your reader.

Thesis  A perfect teacher is considerate, organized, and kind.  A perfect teacher is considerate b/c…..and show that……  A perfect teacher is organized and that helps the students to be better prepared…..  COUNTERCLAIM  Some may argue that a characteristic of a perfect teacher doesn’t include kindness. However, a perfect teacher is one who shows kindness towards her students by listening and always being willing to help.

How to deal with Counterclaims *Respond to these counterclaims by mentioning them in your essay and explaining why they are wrong. *Then make a final point to convince your reader.
