Poetry presentation By Ed Moynaugh

The quality of mercy William Shakespeare The quality of mercy is not strain'd. It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven Upon the place beneath. It is twice blest: It blesseth him that gives, and him that takes. 'Tis mightiest in the mightiest; it becomes The throned monarch better than his crown. His scepter shows the force of temporal power, The attribute to awe and majesty, Wherein doth sit the dread and fear of kings; But mercy is above this sceptered sway; It is enthroned in the heart of kings; It is an attribute to God himself; And earthly power doth then show likest God's When mercy seasons justice.

Summary The summary and meaning of the poem is that mercy is more powerful than cruelty and fear. Shakespeare said that it was in the heart of kings and a attribute of god. I think that he meant that all great people can show mercy for that connects them with god. He meant killing is strong but refraining is stronger.

Poem contents Alliteration Allusions Theme Theme Euphony The combination of all four of these themes made the poem flow easy and give it a peaceful message

Likes and dislikes I liked the message in the poem but I did not enjoy the Shakespeare writing style it was hard to read and understand. I chose the poem because I could not find any thing that did not take seven minutes to read and was any good.

Questions 1, what did you think it was about? 3, does it still have meaning? 5, did you think Shakespeare meant te same thing? 2. Do you agree with the message? 4, what would you change?
