Technical Track Highlights Completed second WPA interoperability event during the week of February 24 –Third and final event is planned for last week in March –WPA optional certification is planned for end of April –Mandatory WPA certification in August Completed first g interoperability event in January –Second event is planned for first week of April Good progress in g technical task group at meeting –Primary focus of group discussion is the use of protection mechanisms in the g certification test
Marketing Track Highlights Launched marketing task group for h & d to create MRD Good progress on QoS MRD creation for e –Work ahead is to determine the scope of Wi-Fi certification related to QoS and whether MRD should focus only on link layer interoperability or certify profiles which go higher up the network stack Security marketing task group met with their technical counter part to more clearly define what was meant by the requirement for 'security on' out of the box –Resolution was that it only meant at some point in time, after the initial network connection was established, that the user had to be presented with a dialog forcing them to explicitly turn security off or turn security on during the initial configuration
Other Items Alliance is participating at CeBit this week in Hannover, Germany –PR, small booth and press conference only Held PR event during the last week of Feb to communicate the Alliance's g certification plans Wi-Fi Zone "Zone Finder" will be opened this week –Official launch will be later in March Next trade show is N+I Vegas Ease of Use Task group distributed their draft Best Practices guide Public Access 2 Task group continued to develop their strategy recommendations for the Wi-Fi Alliance in support of expanding public access
