Welcome to the first edition of the Street Dance Newsletter, keeping you up to date with what’s going on across the Dance sessions. There will be a Newsletter published at the end of each school term providing information, updates, good news stories and success. Street dancers put on a show ! The annual Dance Festival was held this March, with over 150 dancers and 300 spectators. This was a fantastic evening and opportunity for the young dancers to put on a show and demonstrate what they get up to at sessions. Myself and all the dance leaders were impressed with the dedication and hard work all the dancers put into the event. World Cup Success! Back in Autumn 2013, some of the Street Dancers took part in a special opportunity to perform at the Rugby World Cup across four venues. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for the youngsters who all thoroughly enjoyed this experience, culminating with a final performance at Old Trafford, World Cup Final! Well Done to all Dancers and parents who took part. Hag Fold looking good! Hag Fold recently gained funding towards hoodies from their local area forum. Hag Fold have raised £150 this year through various show evenings and raffles which enabled them to go ahead and order hoodies. Well done Hag Fold for raising money towards the Dance sessions. Max Factor Auditions Well done to the 4 Dance sessions that went along and auditioned at the WALH Max Factor event. We hope it was a valuable experience to you all and you enjoyed being part of competitive Dance and performance for the evening.

Summer Activities This summer we are aiming to get all the Dance sessions involved in performing at or attending a summer event within their communities. So far we have confirmed Hag Fold to perform at their Fun Day on 23 rd August, Higher Fold to perform at ‘Peoples Picnic’ 8 th August and The Meadows to perform at St John’s School, Pemberton on 12 th July. If anyone knows of any events or summer fun days we could be part of please me any details or a contact for the event. Summer Raffle For the next 6 weeks we will be holding a summer raffle. Each group will have one prize winner which will be drawn on w/c 25 th August by your leaders. Raffle tickets 30p each or £1 a strip. Collect your raffle tickets over the next few weeks to be in with a chance to win! Higher Fold visit Hag Fold Street Dance Hag Fold and Higher Fold recently came together for a Street Dance party evening. Each group rehearsed a routine to show each other what they get up, leaders set up games and gave out prizes finishing with hotdogs and drinks. We hope you enjoyed the evening! The purpose of the committee is to bring people from all the dance sessions together and discuss ways of bringing income, help and support to the dance sessions. If you would like to be part of the committee please me and I will send details of the next meeting. There will be changes being made to Dance sessions in the near future so we would like parent/volunteer input on this. We are also looking for someone to help parents and youngsters develop their costume making skills for the festival. If anyone can teach sewing or costume making please let us know.
