THE SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY Construction Methodology Maximises use of ‘abnormal’ possessions to minimise ‘out of hours’ working i.e. Week 9 replacement coper works is equivalent of 6 weeks of weekday nights Co-ordinate as many of the ‘noisy’ & ‘dusty’ activities i.e. removal of structures into the three ‘abnormal’ possessions Use of acoustic screens to contain plant noise Use of mains power to supply site accommodation – saves need for 24/7 generator Wet cutting of materials to suppress dust Full encapsulation of Public Footbridge so works can be completed in daytime hours
THE SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY Programme January – February 2014 –Permitted development notification of works falling under Part 17 of the General Permitted Development Order” and “Request for Prior Approval for works falling under Part 11 of the General Permitted Development Order –Removal of tree and de-vegetation works March – April 2014 –Set up site –New events footbridge enabling works May Key possession 75 Hours 24 th -26 th May 2014 –Bridge delivered to site – car park closed from 21 st May –Removal of existing events footbridge –Lift in new events footbridge –New platform copers at country end –Scaffold & encapsulation to public footbridge and commence repairs –Open new secondary footbridge 27 th May June – August 2014 Key 51 hour possession 7 th -8 th June –New platform copers at London end –Removal of platform 2/3 building –Construct new platform 2/3 building –Platform 2/3 canopy works
