WHY ?  Discover & explore your passions  Explore & test your chosen field or major  Gain experience and build your résumé  Make business contacts for future jobs  Build confidence leadership  It’s better to do SOMETHING than do NOTHING

HOW  Dream  Look Look  Get Creative

THE PITCH Create a one-page outline of your internship idea Things to include:  Which department or with whom you would prefer to work  The skills you would like to gain  The time frame and time commitment of the internship  What you bring to the party, and  Your openness & flexibility for alternate plans of work.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK!  Make a list of your top 5-10 companies or organizations you would like to work with  Get to know someone at the organization through phone calls or an informational interview  Be prepared with resume and cover letter

FOLLOW-UP Most Important - Hardest To Do  s  Calls  Cards or letters (snail mail)  Drop by, and  Attend things they attend.
