Introduction The chipset is commonly used to refer to a set of specialized chips on a computer's motherboard or an expansion card. Chipsets are the main controllers on the motherboard - they allow the CPU to interface with the various components and expansion cards installed.”

Advanced Chipset

Northbridge The Northbridge of the chipset handles the heavy traffic from one bus to another. Northbridge chip is responsible for interfacing the CPU, main memory, local bus and the main system bus. Northbridge supported for Memory Technologies (64Mbit or 128Mbit SDRAM).
