The Chick-Fil-A bowl is a football match between the ACC and SEC held each year for various organizations helping the needy, from homeless shelters to scholarships. In 2009 it donated 1.2 million dollars to charity. They are the driving force behind the Winshape Foundation which pays for long term foster care and summer camps for over 1,900 boys and girls. Chick-Fil-A also sponsors the Chick-Fil-A Kyle Petty Ride Across America which donates the profits from it’s ten day ride to various child centered charitable organizations. Last year 6,100 riders gave 12.6 million to charity. This has been going on since 1995.

 S. Truett Cathy is the current C.E.O. and founder of Chick-fil-a and has managed the company so well that they have experienced 42 years of annual sales increases and loves to give to the community and invented the idea of being closed on Sunday to give his employees a break.  Dan Cathy is the C.O.O. of Chick-fil-a and has been for 8 years, he is the son of S. Truett Cathy and is one of the driving forces behind the company. He is responsible for many of the customer service improvements made by Chick-fil-a, with his concept of second mile service, beyond the extra mile. He’s worked at chick-fil-a ever since the beginning of the chain when he sang the jingle outside of the restaraunt at age 9.

Struggles: The cow campaign became a scare when there was a concern about mad cow diseases. They have to compete with Kentucky fried chicken and McDonalds and other fast food joints. There is also a Sonic right next to the local one. Successes: In 2006 they surpassed 2 billion in sales

 Credited with introduction the original boneless breast of chicken sandwich and pioneering in-mall fast food, Chick-fil-A. is one of the largest privately- held restaurant chains- with nearly 1,500 restaurants in 38 states and Washington, D.C. and the second largest quick service chicken restaurant chain in the nation, based on annual sales.

 They believe in providing our guest the best restaurant experience they can have. the team strives to give great tasting food and a comfortable eating environment. The community is important to Chick- Fil-A hopes to enrich the lives of all their customers.

 The targeted customers are all ages. They want to be a family place.

 They have over 500 full time corporate employees and hundreds of part timers.  Chicken, peanut oil, water, napkins, cups, silverware, bread, eggs, milk, salt, pepper, flour, sugar, pig, cheese, and potatoes are their most common resources used.  Their Capital goods include all their culinary equipment, their machines, their cleaning supplies, and the oils and such that they use to prepare the food and help keep it tasting good.  As far as their sales trends go they have been steadily increasing over the last 10 years.

 Chick-fil-A reported Thursday its sales through the first half of 2009 are up 10 percent, while same-store sales rose about 3 percent. The private restaurant chain did not disclose exact sales figures. Chick-fil-A’s sales in 2008 increased 12 percent to about $3 billion.  The company also said it will now open 69 new stand- alone restaurants (up from 64), for a total of 80 restaurant openings in As of the end of June, the chain opened 31 new restaurants and kept pace with its goal to reinvest in 65 of its current locations through major remodels.  Chick-fil-A has more than 1,445 restaurants in 38 states and Washington, D.C.

 Chick fil a has increased profit by exceptional customer service, promotions, and releasing new sandwiches often, providing variety in their menu.  They have not needed to cut their expenses seriously, because they are doing very, very well.

 The main competitors of chick fil A are KFC, McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy’s, Sonic, and any drive through in America.  The Branches of Chick Fil A In 2009 reached billion it was a 8.6% increase over the chains previous performance.  Branches was the sit down restaurant Dwarf house line in Restaurant.  The Chick-fil-A Dwarf Houses are a full-service variation of the typical Chick-fil-A restaurant  these independently owned restaurants offer traditional, sit-down dining and expanded menu selections in a diner-themed atmosphere.  Truett's Grill

 A franchise is when a store has people pay get a license to start up a store that has a proven way of doing things and you use their name and products to bring people to the store. The headquarters which for Chic-fil-a is in College Park, Georgia runs the advertising campaigns and other promotions to advertise the company and owners of a Chic- fil-a store receive the benefits of the advertising with customers. For example, College sports is where Chic-fil-a has its biggest sponsorship with their football bowl game and other events through out the college sports seasons. Chic-fil-a has many other affilations with other sports teams and businesses, too. The person that is running the Chic-fil-a store has to pay some of its profits to the company, but overall the idea of running a part of a franchise is attractive to people because they get a store with proven success.
