How do you get the Biblio info from the site? Use the following website to help you to find the information you are looking for and evaluate the quality of the site you are using for your research! Read! Read! Read! Do your best to find the information. If no date is found use n.d. in place of the date in the bibliography. Find the biblio information for one of the sites on the 5 th grade resource page

URL means Universal Resource Locator- This is the global address of documents and other resources found on the World Wide Web. What is a URL? Each part of the address has a certain meaning and purpose to let you know more about the resource you have found. Here is an example: thirdgrade/resources.html How do you read a URL?

http- hypertext transfer protocol – this is the format used to transfer and deal with information over the Internet www – World Wide Web – the general name for the host server that supports the resource..not all sites include this in their address shschools – this is the secondary-level domain name.org – this is the primary-level domain name..tells you what type organization runs the site

sjsh- this is the directory name..where the resources are kept on the hosting server lowerschool – this is the subdirectory typically the folder in the directory thirdgrade – this is the folder the page you are looking at is located resources – this is the name of the document that you are looking at html- this is the type of file..you can have html, pdf, sjsh/lowerschool/thirdgrade/resources.html

Boolean Logic Include operators such as AND, OR, ANDNOT (Dogpile) Often use + and – as well to refine search This will include words (+) or exclude words Example: Search bass – music Try it!

Quotes for Exact Phrase Example: “President Bush” will give results where these two words are always together. This will eliminate all references to presidents and the word bush. Try it!
