2 nd Grade Curriculum Night Ms. Laura Denton Trail

 Come to school on time.  Be respectful  Be a hard worker  Come to school ready to work.  Always strive to do your best.  Always have a positive attitude.

Behavior charts for a day to day basis will be used When your child is sent home with the color red and a note it will describe the action that they performed that was unacceptable. This is where I need you as parents to help me try to correct a certain behavior.

Monday, Wednesday Tuesday Thursday 0 What is addressed in class on these days will be sent home. It is important as a parent to go over these papers to see where your child is developmentally. 0 Tuesdays and Thursdays a spelling chart will be sent home. On these days the student are to write sentences using their vocab and other fun activities to get them familiar with these words.

Homework charts can be found on my classrooms webpage!

0 I really believe that reading every night will help students tremendously in every developmental aspect. 0 I will be send a reading log home with your child every Monday and just need you to check that your child has taken at least four days out of the week to read alone or aloud to you.

Reading logs will also be sent home weekly. Students are required to do 20 minutes of reading each night when at home.

0 Students will use different strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems. 0 Place Value Unit – Students are starting a new unit on place value. They will need to be able to show how many ones, tens, hundreds are in numbers as well as compare values using, =

 Capitalization  Adjectives  Recognizing verbs and adverbs  Pronouns  Contractions These are just some of the projects you will see your child come home with! These are subjects that I plan to cover early in the semester!
