Cupboard Mock up

What is the purpose of making mock- up? Mock up is constructed so that the designer could test if it works well and looks good Factors to consider are – Function – Aesthetics – Ergonomics – Construction

Scale 1:1 mock up Can be used to test if it could be used comfortably

Scaled down mock up Scaled down mock-up is used to show a concept Scale down options – 1:3 – 1:6 – 1:10

Ergonomics The study of user interaction with the product and its environment A mannequin can be used to check the size and proportion of a scaled-down design

Function To check if the product works well For example, a tape can be mounted on the mock up to see if it fits well

Aesthetics To study the look at different angles To check with the user on the style

Material

Joint and construction Use tape to hold on the part temporary Use mockup to think if the parts could be joined together when using actual material

Evaluation Recording of evaluation of mock up with pictures and answers to the following questions: What to evaluate? What are the good points? What are the bad points? What can be improved? Anticipated problems?

Flimsy Cardboard material Base support is not enough Joints are not secured enough

Mock up only prevents cup from spilling if the direction of falling is the same as one of the support Can be improved by having a round base instead of 4 stands. Functionality Test Test to see if the mock up works as intended.

Mock up occupies a reasonable amount of space. Can be made smaller so it does not occupy too much of space on the work desk. The holding piece can be further rounded to make it more aesthetically pleasing. Contextual Use Demonstrate how your model works in the situation it was designed for For a scale down model involving interaction with humans, use a mannequin
