Our Targets For Today By the end of the lesson we will all be able to : 1. Name the components of Health Related Fitness (HRF) 2. Give definitions for the components of HRF 3. Understand how to develop each of the components of HRF

What are we going to learn and how are we going to work? We are going to learn about the different components of HRF Working in groups at stations to experience how each component of HRF are trained.

Task 1 Working in small groups, you must now warm-up using the correct methods. Working in small groups, you must now warm-up using the correct methods. Think about what you must include? And why? Components of HRF Cardiovascular Fitness/Endurance Body Composition Muscular Endurance Flexibility Strength

Health Related Fitness Physical fitness is made up of health related and skill related components. There are five main health related fitness components. Cardiovascular Fitness/Endurance- this is how well the circulatory system can supply oxygen to the muscles and how efficiently the muscles can use oxygen to sustain energetic activity. Strength- this is the amount of force a muscle can exert. Strength- this is the amount of force a muscle can exert. Muscular Endurance- this is the ability of muscles to work for long periods without getting tired. Muscular Endurance- this is the ability of muscles to work for long periods without getting tired. Flexibility- this is the range of movement in a joint (or groups of joints). Flexibility- this is the range of movement in a joint (or groups of joints). Body Composition- this is the proportion of fat, muscle, bone and fluids within the body. Body Composition- this is the proportion of fat, muscle, bone and fluids within the body.

Task 2 You will now undertake a circuit training session. At each station you will perform the given exercise for 1 min. When performing each exercise try to note what component of HRF you are exercising and the muscles you are using.

Circuit Training Station 1 Shoulder press Station 2 Sit-ups Station 3 Stretching Station 4 Bicep Curl Station 5 Skipping Station 6 Press-ups Station 7 Jogging

Have we achieved our targets? Can you now: 1.Name the components of Health Related Fitness (HRF) 2.Give definitions for the components of HRF 3.Understand how to develop each of the components of HRF
