Define red terms in your own words. Before Pearl Harbor Most of Europe and Asia were already at war. June 1941 USA stops Japan’s ability to buy oil. Define red terms in your own words.

The Attack Make a timeline of the previous two slides. December 7th, 1941. A quiet Sunday morning. Just before 8:00 am the first wave of Japanese planes begins attacking. After two hours over 3,500 Americans were killed or wounded. All 8 battleships of the Pacific Fleet were damaged or sunk At least 1,177 people died when the USS Arizona exploded and sank. More leaders… Franklin Roosevelt signed the declaration of war for the United States after Pearl Harbor After FDR’s death Truman became president and ordered the atomic bomb to be dropped.

Why did Hitler hate the Jews? Some say because he blamed them for Germany losing WW1 Some say because a Jewish doctor treated his mother and she died of cancer No one really knows. What is genocide?

Concentration Camps Why did the US government place NO- It is an Internment Camp for Japanese Americans! After Pearl Harbor the government created hundreds of these camps and forced Japanese Americans to live in them. Many were only allowed to take a few belongings and were only given 48 hours to evacuate their homes. Is this a German concentration camp? Why did the US government place Japanese Americans into these camps?
