DIGITAL LIVING NETWORK ALLIANCE (DLNA) Formed 2003 by Sony (name changed in 2004) Used existing standards; added compliance/test/certification First “Guidelines” for DLNA published in 2006 Presently: 250 members; 8000 products certified million devices manufactured per year 1 billion DLNA-certified devices by 2012 (“ABI Research”) 2 billion DLNA-certified devices by 2014 (“Strategy Analytics”) “Promoter Members” (26): Access, AT&T Labs, Awox, Broadcom, Cisco Systems, Comcast, DIRECTV, Dolby Laboratories, Ericsson, Hewlett-Packard, Huawei, Intel, LG Electronics, Microsoft, Motorola, Nokia, Panasonic, Pioneer Corporation, Qualcomm, Rovi Corporation, Samsung Electronics, Sharp Corporation, Sony Electronics, Technicolor, Toshiba, and Verizon. 1/2011: Apple is absent; Apple uses its Digital Audio Access Protocol instead of DLNA's UPnP protocols.
