Indicators  Indicators are statements of good practice against which current practice may be examined. 15

Exploring Indicators The Academy focuses on:  14 Rapid Improvement Leader Indicators (pg 114)  9 Teaching & Learning Indicators (pg 115)  21 District Indicators of Effective Practice (pg 53) 16

Exploring Indicators Task #1: 1.Distribute indicators in envelopes 2.Individually, read your indicators. For clarification review “Wise Ways ” (#) 3.Individually, think about how well the SU (all schools) is implementing the indicator (1-Not at All; 2-Occassionally; 3-Frequently) 4. Place indicators under the rating on easel sheet 17

Exploring Indicators Task #1 (continued): 5.As a group discuss:  Any surprises?  Questions that arise concerning why an indicator might fall in a certain rating.  What evidence are you collecting to support what you are indicating? 6.As a group, come to consensus on how each indicator should be rated 18

Exploring Indicators Task #1 (continued): 7.For the indicators that you rated a “1” or “2”, discuss:  Any policies/processes/practices that are getting in the way of moving you a “3.” If so, can they be changed?  Any policies/processes/practices that might be included in a District Operations Manual to assist the schools in strengthening these indicators. 19

Debrief Any AHAs? Surprises? What was most difficult part of ranking? 20
