© Folens 2009 FOR EDEXCEL Physical activity as part of your healthy, active lifestyle As a performer, knowing what you have to do at each stage can give you an element of control and can help to reduce the possibility of boredom with a training routine. Goals can help a performer work hard and keep focused on a task, giving them a better chance to improve their fitness and skills. Goal setting 6

© Folens 2009 FOR EDEXCEL Physical activity as part of your healthy, active lifestyle Reaching a specific target shows an athlete’s physical progress. Goal setting 7 Goals can also mentally prepare the performer for an activity or competition as performance ability is increased.
