MISSION We conduct academic research and educate following the newest theoretical and practical solutions considering the needs of the regional and global economies, and bring up our students to become people who are socially responsible and with broad horizons.

CONCEPT OF EDUCATION Management Programme realised at the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń The management programme at master level studies at the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management at Nicolaus Copernicus University is finished with the obtainment of a professional title of Master. The programme comprises four semesters of study, which corresponds to 120 ECTS points. The purpose of education within the management programme is to provide knowledge, skills, and social competences necessary for the obtainment of the degree in management. The field of study is confined in the area of ​​ social sciences, and education is realised in accordance with the university general teaching profile.

Learning outcomes that result from the scope of the knowledge include the following: - possessing in-depth knowledge of the nature and historical evolution of management science and its place in the system of social sciences; - understanding and considering, from the point of view of the relevant management sciences, economic and social processes taking place in institutions and their environment, as well as their global interdependence and long-term consequences; - knowledge and understanding, from the point of view relevant to management sciences, of relationships between institutions and their internal and external stakeholders and of how they shape these relationships following both ethical standards and corporate social responsibility rules as well as the development goals of the institution; - profound knowledge of selected legal, organizational, professional, and ethical systems and their regularities, nature, sources, along with their modifications and modes of action. - possessing proper knowledge about the behaviour of people in organizations at the individual, group and institutional levels; - knowledge and understanding of the basic principles of management of intellectual property and the concepts and principles of the protection of industrial property and copyright law; - knowledge of the general principles of the creation and development of forms of individual entrepreneurship through knowledge of management science.

Within the scope of skills, the major learning outcomes in the educational process realized at WNEiZ UMK in Toruń include the following: - knowledge of methods of forecasting of economic phenomena, the identification of problems that are associated with the practice of the functioning and development of the institution; - self-identifying of research and professional problems and seeking their solutions and anticipating the consequences of the concepts used; - possessing the skills necessary to prepare a master’s thesis in the field of management with the use of all available sources and research methods needed to solve a specific problem; - knowledge of the English language at the B2+ (the European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​ ) and the ability to deliver speeches in English; - designing, analysing, and using modern and advanced methods and management techniques within a variety of research activities.

A graduate of WNEiZ UMK in Toruń possesses in the area of social competences the following qualities: - he/she understands the need for lifelong learning and the need for continuous improvement of professional and personal competences and has the skills that enable him/her to inspire others to do so; - he/she has the ability to interact and work in a larger or smaller group, adopting a variety of tasks to be performed, demonstrating leadership, communication skills, diligence and perseverance; - he/she is responsible for ensuring the safety and health at work for himself/herself and those in the professional environment, and acts adequately in emergency; - he/she is able to think and act in an entrepreneurial manner, satisfies the conditions of corporate social responsibility and of professional and life ethics.

A graduate of the management programme of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun is prepared for: - undertaking doctoral level studies; - starting work in business entities and institutions of various levels of the national economy as well as in suitable local government units; - working in research institutes operating within the field of management science, in departmental units, and in business consultancy and advising; - running his/her own business, consultancy and advisory services.

Why is it worth studing Tourism and Sport Management  The number of foreigners visiting Poland is constantly increasing – in mln tourists have visited Poland (7% increase comparing to 2012)  The value of income from incoming tourism in Poland is constantly growing – in 2013 it was 39.8 bn PLN (11.5% increase comparing to 2012)  Poland has various tourist attractions, many covered by the UNESCO World Heritage List

Management Why is it worth studing Tourism and Sport Management Tourism and Sport Management is designed primarily for these who want to work on a headship position in any tourist or sport business, but also for these who just want to be excellent in any management function or sphere related to tourism and sport. The main objective of Tourism and Sport Management studies is to prepare the specialists for several positions in a broadly understood tourism sector who will be able to see and understand the whole complexity of any tourism or sport business as a system of different functions. Education Requirements are the following: Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree or equivalent and a certificate of English language competence. The studies program provides students with specific competencies for the tourism business in a practice- oriented and holistic approach. It takes into account the fact that the prosperous tourism and sport sector is recruiting more and more managers with a recognized academic qualification. The program delivers key competencies required in the tourism business in the field of practical knowledge about creation of competitive marketing strategies for tourism and sport organisations, making financial analysis, measuring business performance and building an effective employees team. The content of most courses is set in global context and presents cross-national perspective of modern tourism and sport management. Graduates are prepared to become managers in tourism companies, associations and institutions, sports and recreation.

Management Why is it worth studing Tourism and Sport Management Exceptional advantage of Tourism and Sport Management studies is the fact that all lectures, workshops and tutorials are given in English what enhances graduates’ competences in the field of international communication. Moreover, 10 best students have an opportunity to study in University of Angers in France on the Faculty Ingénierie du Tourisme, du Bâtiment et des Services (ITBS) during the second year of studies (two semesters). In France students will attend the lectures and tutorials of Management of Tourism Organisations, Hotels, Restaurants and Recreation Businesses Studies. All lectures and tutorials in France are also given in English. The graduates of Tourism and Sport Management studies who studied for a year in France will obtain two diplomas. The firs is Polish diploma: Master of Management in the field of Tourism and Sport Management issued by Nicholas Copernicus University in Toruń. The second one is French diploma: Master an Management et Développement de Tourisme, de I’Hôtelleire, de la Restauration et des Loisirs, issued by Université d’Angers.

Management Tourism and Sport Management The main learning outcomes in the scope of knowledge include the following: : -having knowledge about the economic and social processes in the field of tourism and sport, -understanding and considering the economic and social processes in tourism organisations and sport clubs as well as in their environment (including a global dimension), their roots, mutual relations and long-term consequences, -knowing and understanding– from the perspective of management theory – the relations between and sport tourism organisation and its internal and external stakeholders as well as the rules of developing these relations in accordance with ethical standards, CSR and organisational aims, -knowing and understanding the relations on sport labour market between the stakeholders as well as the rules of developing these relations in accordance with ethical standards, CSR and organisational aims -having knowledge about regional tourism product and the strategy of regional tourism, -having knowledge about advanced methods of financial analysis and their implementation in tourism or sport organisation management, -knowing general rules of starting-up and developing individual entrepreneurship in the field of tourism and sport

Management Tourism and Sport Management The main learning outcomes in the scope of skills include the following: -the ability to design remedial actions for identified problems/issues concerning tourism enterprise, implementation of the quality management as well as planning the development actions for tourism business, -the identification of tourism development determinants including global, national, regional and local scale, -self-identifying of economic phenomena and evaluating economic and financial determinants of the development of the organizations operating in tourism ans sport sector, -the ability to plan the undertaings in the tourism and sport sector, concerning domestic and international expansion and creating organization’s image, including the risk of these activities, -possessing the skills necessary to prepare a written and oral thesis concernig tourism and sport sector, -using adequate methods and information systems used in tourism sector.

Management Tourism and Sport Management A graduate of Tourism and Sport Management at WNEiZ UMK in Toruń possesses in the area of social competences the following qualities: -he/she has the ability to be creative while interacting with a group at a workplace, adopting a variety of tasks to be performed, demonstrating leadership, and communication skills, -he/she has the ability to define the priorities in accomplishing the undertakings aimed at tourism enterprise development as well as implementing quality orientation, -he/she has the ability to define the priorities in accomplishing the undertakings on sport labour market, -he/she is able to think and act in an entrepreneurial manner, -he/she identifies and solves adequately specialist and ethical dilemma concerning sport labour market and tourism enterprise.

Management Tourism and Sport Management The graduates of Tourism and Sport Management studies will not only display an extensive knowledge about contemporary tourism services but also will be practically prepared to become managers in tourism companies, associations and institutions, sports and recreation.
