Getting involved- both in school and in the community-is one of the best things you can do!

Being involved can make your day better in every way. Knowing that you have a sport or activity after school gives you something to look forward to. Hall Boys Track and Field

You teach me, I forget. You show me, I remember. You involve me. I understand.” Edward O. Wilson Pops n Jazz, 2012 Lets talk about this quote. What do you think it means?

Students who are involved are: ➢ Generally more successful in school ➢ More invested because they feel like they are a part of something ➢ Take pride in their school ➢ Have more positive interactions with faculty and staff

➢ Help to create a school culture that is more upbeat and positive ➢ Have real life experiences that may even help with career selection ➢ Have an awesome element to add to a resume Hall Latin Club

What’s your attitude about joining a club or team? Being in a club will give me the opportunity to really get to know other students who share my interest- OR I think it’s really awkward to join a club. I won’t know anyone and other people will judge me- Let’s talk about it:

Joining a club or team will provide me with a more well rounded high school experience OR It doesn’t matter if I join a club or team. I have better things to do with my time

TEAMWORK!

Being part of a team or club provides many lessons that you can use beyond high school. For example: ●cooperation and teamwork skills ●leadership skills ●appreciation of different abilities ●respect for other members ●a sense of belonging ●social interaction skills ●goal setting skills Junior Achievement Career Walk

●Self esteem and self concept ●Self discipline, patience and persistence ●Resilience through sharing positive and negative experiences Hall Boys Baseball 2014

How do I balance school work and extra curricular activities?? You have more things going on, so you have to prioritize and schedule efficiently. Procrastination is less likely to occur with a structured schedule. Why do it: Keep your grades up to participate in sports Learning time management at an early age will stay with you throughout your life! How to do it: STAY ORGANIZED! Use a calendar/agenda to manage your time Self-discipline : what motivates you?
