2 Methods The Pew Global Attitudes survey interviewed over 38,000 people in 44 nations in Summer 2002 and an additional 16,000 in 20 countries in May The questionnaire was translated into more than 70 languages and dialects. Most interviews were conducted face-to-face in the respondent’s home. Some questions could not be asked in China, Vietnam, and Egypt. But question wordings were not altered in any country because of official pressure.
