CONTENTS :. 1- Definition of Network 2-The benefits of computer.networks.3-Computer Network Components. -Types of networks4

The definition of the network ♦ Network is a collection of computers linked with each other. In order to use network resources. And the network consists of two computers at least. 3

The benefits of computer networks 1- Participate in the sources. 1- Participate in the sources. 2- Transfer information quickly and efficiently 3-Central control in the information, files and programs..4-Internet Services 4

Network components :1-Computers :1-Computers pc- server- pocket pc- server- pocket :2-Network devices :2-Network devices Hub-Router-switch-Network interface card 3-Media : Wire –wireless. 5-protocols 5

1-Server 1-Server Your computer is running the network. Provides services to all devices on the network, such as: File Storage User Management Insurance System Administration 6

2-Work Stations 2-Work Stations Is one of the computers on the network. Programs that are running the station either: The Windows Macintosh 7

3-Network Interface Card Is a means of connecting your computer to the network. It is either a separate card for the device. Or installed on M.B And there are many different types of calling cards 8

4-Cables 4-Cables Wire is used to connect the server with the workstations. Types of cables 1 - coaxial cable 9

Skip types of cable 2 - double the scheduled cable (UTP) and (STP) (8 party) Unshielded Twisted Pair 10

Skip types of cable 3 - Fiber-optic cables (optical) Running at very high Running at very high Expensive Expensive 11 Optical fiber The covering of glass Kevlar fibers External protective cover

Factors that depend on it use the cable 1-The speed of transmission or data transmission rate. 2 - Maximum length of the cable without the use of amplification of the wave. 3 - Prevention and how stress. 4 - Cable price. 12

Types of networks Terms of number of users 1 - a limited network of long-LAN (Local Area Network) These include a maximum of one building or a single room. 2 - The large-scale WAN (Wide Area Network) They include a group of buildings or group of States or the globe connected to each other 13

Types of networks in terms of connection methods Star Network (Star Topology) 1 - linear network (Bus Topology) 2- Ring network (Ring Topology)

First: (Bus Topology) Plug this way, the pace of connection and is the simplest. Way installation:- 1 - multiple computers. 2 - cable runs through all the major appliances and is divided into several branches to connect with the network 15

The disadvantage of this method If a malfunction occurs to the main cable leads to failure the entire network. On each machine waiting his turn to send data, otherwise you will not collide. The greater the number of devices a long waiting time and increased the slow network. In the case of a device malfunction place the data in the cable and cause network failure. 16

Second: the network ring *Is linked to apparatus in the form of a loop or circle without end. *Transmitted information, as in the delivery pace. *Characteristics of data traffic in two directions. *Each computer is a duplicate of the signal and strengthens them. *Disadvantages: Event of an interruption in one of the devices stop the entire network. *Disadvantages: Event of an interruption in one of the devices stop the entire network. 17

Third: the star network Third: the star network *Are connected to each of the devices on the network device called a device called a Hub or Switch * All devices to achieve a single point. * If any device cut wire linked the network not be affected the. * Its disadvantage: If a malfunction occurs in the Hub network depends entirely on the work. 18

Using of star network Using of star network used in small companies and laboratories, schools and houses.... used in small companies and laboratories, schools and houses.... Type of Hub Type of Hub *Passive Hub Collect data and re-transmitted without Enlargement. *Active Hub *Active Hub.Collect data and re-sent with the enlarged 19

Expansion of the star network We can expand the star network by using another hub That connects to the basic hub. 20

Hint…. It should be noted that it can use a mixture of connecting methods as the figure 21 Ring linear Star
