More info for the spectator means they can appreciate it and understand it better. The demand to see personalities in the media invades their personal lives/no privacy. Money from broadcasting rights go direct to the sport. Seeing sport on tv may encourage higher levels of participation. Coverage of minority sports could increase their popularity.

Directors of programme dictate what you view. They chose what will be shown on their programme. Replaying incidents and pundit analysis may undermine the referees decisions. The more coverage a sport gets, the easier it is to attract more sponsors therefore more money for the sport.
