19/09/2015KS4 Sci.2 WELCOME TO KEY STAGE 4 SCIENCE Science is all around us

19/09/2015KS4 Sci.3 So What’s Next ? Year 9Years 10 & 11 KS4 Science (Mixed BTEC and GCSE) BTEC Science 3 hours a week (BTEC = 2 GCSE’s) GCSE Double Award Science 6 hours a week (2 GCSE’s) KS3 Science Completed  GCSE Triple Award Science(3 GCSE’s) ‘A’ Level Science(s)

What is BTEC Applied Science Level 2 ? Designed to provide science to learners in situations linked to possible careers involving science without A level science. It contains a number of Units and you will study three to achieve the Certificate and then a further three to achieve Extended Certificate. The course is designed to be of help to people who may go straight into a science linked career without A level science.

What is BTEC Applied Science Level 2 ? It contains some of the material found in the GCSE Science. There are no external examinations. By the end of the Extended Certificate, you can get the equivalent of TWO GCSE grades for Science. It is easier for you to get higher grades in this, compared to GCSE Science. You CANNOT go on to ‘A’ Level Science

19/09/2015KS4 Sci.6 What will we be studying ? Chemistry and Our Earth Energy and Our Universe Biology and Our Environment Three more Units on different aspects of science still to be decided About 30 lessons a topic

19/09/2015KS4 Sci.7 GCSE Science 6 hours a week for one year 12 topics 60% external assessment by 6 tiered Multi Choice tests available November, March & June – Retakes possible 40% internal assessment by 10% practical skills & 3 x 45 minute tasks Worth ONE GCSE (A* to G) You will then follow GCSE Additional Science for your second GCSE

The universe is full of planets where intelligent life could start – so where is everybody ?
