“MASTER” OF THE DIALECTICAL PROCESS HEGEL:

THE DIALECTICAL PROCESS: ANY IDEA OR PROBLEM GIVES RISE TO AN OPPONENT. DUE TO THE RISE OF THE OPPONENT, THERE IS A CONFLICT. A PRODUCT OF THE CONFLICT IS A NEW IDEA OR “SOLUTION”WHICH IS THE SYNTHESIS. THE SYNTHESIS IS A HIGHER LEVEL “TRUTH” THAN EACH OF THE FIRST TWO WERE ON THEIR OWN. THIS IS KNOWN AS GEIST.

ESSENTIAL IDEAS: CHANGE IS THE RESULT OF CONFLICTING FORCES THAT WORK THEIR WAY OUT TO A RESOLUTION, WHICH WILL THEN CONTAIN NEW CONFLICTS. IDEALLY, THE PROCESS OF CHANGE DEVELOPS UNTIL A CONFLICT-FREE SITUATION EMERGES. IN TERMS OF SOCIETY, THIS “IDEAL” WOULD BE WHEN EVERY INDIVIDUAL IS A HARMONIOUSLY FUNCTIONING PART OF THE WHOLE. IN REALITY, CONFLICT THAT CAUSES CHANGE IS ALWAYS PRESENT.

ESSENTIAL IDEAS: IF CONFLICT CONTINUES, ALIENATION WILL PROVIDE THE MOTIVATION FOR CHANGE. ANALYZING THE HISTORICAL PROCESS IS A KEY TO ACHIEVING AN IDEAL SOCIETY. MAN, HOWEVER, CONTINUES TO MAKE LAWS AND RULES THAT ALIENATE HIM.
