NMPLISNMPLIS Summer School, Tblisi, July 5-15, 2010 Barcelona Team courses in NMPLIS Unit 4 Information Architecture This course introduces the intellectual foundations of information organization and retrieval in web’s environment: basic concepts, organization systems, labeling systems, navigation systems, search systems and controlled vocabularies, as well as methodological strategies for information architecture implementation. Unit 5 Digital Preservation This course offers an overview of the myriad challenges to preserving the digital resources found in virtually every library collection, including both “born digital” objects and those that result from digitization projects of documents in traditional formats. Learning Objectives : To understand the main challenges for guaranteeing access to digital information over time. To understand the institutional and economic implications for libraries assuming responsibility for preserving access to digital information.
