National Leadership Grants for Museums 2005 Award information George Mason University – The “Object of History” project will teach themes in U.S. History through virtual representations and interpretations using iconic objects from the Smithsonian NMAH Chicago Botanic Garden- ‘Plant Collections” is a linked database system to bring into circulation the existing knowledge of living plants as represented in the documented records of participating gardens

Integrated Web Portal SciLINC (Scientific Literature Indexing on Networked Computers)
National Leadership Grants for Libraries University of California – Riverside, CA machine-based, automatically generated metadata. Explores organizational and sustainability issues regarding metadata generation services for digital libraries. Other projects: conceptual matching, automated Help systems, interactive virtual reference (iVR), and open source web browser tools.

Partnership for a Nation of Learners Community Collaboration Grants Partner: Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) 7 grants in 2005 Example: Eye on the Night Sky: A Project for Science Literacy - a partnership between the Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium of St. Johnsbury, Vermont, and Vermont Public Radio (VPR) of Colchester, Vermont.
Partnership for a Nation of Learners Partner: Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) 5 PNL Applicant Technical Assistance Audio Conferences audio call-in presentations with a Power Point sent in advance to discuss the partnering process. PNL Interactive professional development session - Video teleconference on November 30 at over 70 local stations nationwide hosting about 2000 local community organizations Evaluation
Laura Bush Librarians for the 21st Century Digital Asset Management - 6 funded in 2004 to develop curricula, recruit master’s and doctoral students, etc. Met in 2005 under leadership of University of Indiana: Northeast Document Conservation Center partnering with Simmons College, School of Library and Information Science University of Texas at Austin partnering with University of Texas at Austin General Libraries Drexel University, College of Information Science and Technology partnering with Drexel University, Hagerty Library and the Free Library of Philadelphia Rutgers University, School of Communication, Information, and Library Studies Wayne State University Library System partnering with Detroit Historical Museums, Detroit Free Library, and Michigan State University Library At end of 3 years, collaborative report on core competencies and best practices
Laura Bush Librarians for the 21st Century 2006 Initiatives –Digital data curation initiative authentication, archiving, management, preservation, retrieval, and presentation for use and reuse over time of high-quality digital data in any format –Early careers development research initiative for tenure-track faculty in graduate schools of library and information science
