Methods of Presentation Deliver and Distribution 6.01 Understand uses of presentation software and methods of distribution.

Group Delivery with Speaker The slide show is a supplement to a speaker-delivered presentation.  supports information presented by the speaker  displays graphic items that enhance communication  Presents key points for added emphasis of content **The slide show should not contain so much** information that it can substitute for the speaker!

Group Delivery without Speaker  Slide show is played once to an audience  Explanation or interpretation by a speaker is not required  May be displayed to entertain an audience prior to a speech or event  May be used to inform an audience about procedures

Continuous Loop  Played repeatedly until manually stopped  May or may not have a logical beginning & end  Often used at trade shows where people rotate through at different times throughout the day  May be used to broadcast general information, such as school announcements or changes to room locations

Rolling Script  Played at a moderate pace to allow for user participation  Stand-alone content  Examples: Prop for posting the lyrics of a song or the lines of a poem

Self-Serve  Possibly delivered via a website, such as the MS training presentations that are user-selected and interactive  Self-paced and often interactive  May have narration embedded within the presentation

Purposes of Hardcopies 1. To enables retention of information  Effective for content that is…  foreign to the audience  to be remembered  procedural  presented to a large group  The Handout should contain three slides per page and be large enough to read  allowing room for note taking  The amount of slides per sheet may vary by the amount of text on each slide and the space needed for taking notes  Contain color, grayscale, or black and white. (If printing on a black and white printer, select black and white or grayscale format to ensure clarity.)  Contain a footer

The Purpose of Hardcopies continued… 2. To assist the speaker… The Speaker has the notes or outline while the slide show is displayed in the background A notes page contains one slide per page along with any notes that accompany the slide A notes page contains one slide per page along with any notes that accompany the slide An outline view presents the information in compact form without graphics An outline view presents the information in compact form without graphics
