2010 Highlights Developed short and long term Diversity Action Plan with Steering Committee Hosted annual Attorneys of Color Retreat Coordinated response to AOC letter: MLAC Retention Task Force was formed Provided support to PD’s re: Retention of staff of color 2 nd annual diversity workshop for MLP

Diversity Coalition Short Term Goals 1.Revisit DC mission statement 2.Design survey to determine diversity climate at MLS 3.Host Stress Management Retreat for intake and hotline workers 4.Host Diversity Conference for legal services 5.Expand Steering Committee membership

Revisit Coalition Mission Statement Goal 1 Old MISSION STATEMENT – June 2002 To create a representative and collaborative atmosphere within legal services and to provide accessible, welcoming and culturally competent services to clients of all backgrounds and their communities New MISSION STATEMENT – September 2010 To create a diverse, representative and collaborative environment within legal services in order to provide accessible, welcoming and culturally competent services to clients of all backgrounds and their communities.

Survey to determine: Diversity Climate and Training Needs GOAL 2 Received 213 responses How many Years: ▫75% of respondents/more than 18 years Demographics ▫71% Caucasian/White ▫11.3% Latina ▫7.1 % African Heritage

Hotline Program Staff Retreat Goal 3 Collaborated with CLAE to facilitate retreat ▫Motivational humorist: boost morale, reduce burnout, and create a happy healthy workplace ▫CLAE: customer service workshop ▫Presented 30 Certificates of Appreciation

Diversity Conference for MLS Goal 4 This goal is still being developed; to be accomplished by Spring, 2011

Expand DCSC Committee membership GOAL 5 Four new members responded to our invitation to join the Steering Committee One has since been laid off due to funding One has already attended his first meeting The other two, including Rich McMahon, will join the committee in 2011
