Introduction Facts : Nestle is a number of different business (Chocolate, coffee, milk and medicines ) Headquartered in Switzerland. In ( 2004) Nestle : ($76) billion revenue (500) facilities in (80) multinational company locations. (253,000) employees and (80) different information technology units .

Nestle History : Use to be a group of independent business ( fitting with the local business culture ) Nestle (SA) which is refer to the headquarters decided to change from Decentralized to Centralized system in 1991( ERP /SAP) No action have been taken till 1997 with the presents of ( Jeri Duna as Vice – President and CIO of American Company ) (1998) Jeri Dunn (CIO) of Nestle Launch (BEST) project which stands for (Business excellence through system technology) Steps Benefits /Problems

The step of Implemented the project 1997 Jeri Dunn and Joe Weller , the Chairman and CEO of Nestles USA , wanted to integrate the company information system Connect Executives in charge of different department to Analyses the (SWOT) of Nestle (USA) and the team offered (3-5) years plan to completed this project. Forming of 2 teams: Team of (50 member) senior management to ensure the development as set of best practices Team of (10 member) senior information systems professionals to ensure the common data structure for the whole company

The step of Implemented the project The plan was completed in 1998 and the project (BEST) was launched . In (2000) , Nestlé SA followed the lead of Nestlé USA and contracted with SAP to deploy purchase and deploy the new version of their software called mySAP.com Than they realized there are many problems in implementation.

Problems for implementation Resistance from business head. Unlearn which means nobody wanted to learn the new system. The lower level workers did not understand how to use the new system and also did not understand the changes Un-successful of integration( not connections between different departments) Deadline had put too much pressure on the project. 2000 Nestle stop to implement the project.

The changes related to the project Determine the business requirement and decide on a new completion date Agreed to educate those affected (stakeholders ) to understand the need of change ( why , how , and when those changes would happened ) Assigned Tom James to process change with complete responsibility for liaison between the division and best project They pointed one person who try a possibility to ensure the information which is required.

The benefit of (best) project Standardized system helps in : Easy and successful in operating and processing the business Generate better sales forecast one year the actual implementation about in (2002) Nestle was able to save ($ 325) Million (deal with eight or nine autonomous divisions while the global headquarters was dealing with 80 autonomous countries to accomplish the same thing)

Conclusion Nestle global organization is benefiting from the standardizing by the end of (2004) about (10%) of Nestle global business operated with standard processes. Finally change the organization culture is a big challenges and Nestle is successes in that.
