Birthday Celebrations In keeping with our district nutrition policy, we will not be having birthday treats in the classroom. We will celebrate in other non- food ways in the classroom. Summer birthdays can be celebrated at anytime during the year, please talk with me to set this up. Please do not pass out party invitations in class, as this can cause hurt feelings to those children not invited.

Snack Please send in a snack each day There are nut allergies present school wide – please be mindful of this when packing appropriate snacks This will happen during “snack and story time”, at the carpet, so please choose easy clean up snacks. For healthy, nut-free ideas, visit

WE FILL BUCKETS!! Part of our CREEKSIDE culture is “Bucket Filling”. When you are kind and helpful you fill someone’s internal bucket. When you do something unkind, you empty their bucket (as well as your own). Many growth and learning opportunities in terms of behavior. We will fill our classroom bucket with “warm and fuzzy” feelings! We are also a “Leader in Me” school. We practice the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Leadership Skills. You can find more information about this Creekside Philosophy on our school website!

Volunteering Parent volunteers working with students will begin after the first few weeks of school, as I want to foster independence and an “I Can Do It” attitude first. –Parent volunteers may work in the work room during these first weeks on prep work. –More “job specific” information/sign up opportunities can be found in your paperwork today, and more opportunities will be presented on a need basis.

No regular homework is given. Ask that you read (or child reads) 15 minutes a night and practice sight words (will information will be provided at curriculum night). Please set aside a “book box/tub” for our small readers! There are occasionally special projects that will be sent home that usually require adult assistance.

Curriculum Night September 17th This is when we will go into depth about our Kindergarten Curriculum: Please set aside box/ tub for little reading books. Phonics based reading program (Fountas & Pinnell) Everyday Math Lucy Caulkins Writing (full adoption this year) Social studies (My World), Health (My Body, Communities), and Science (plants, solids and liquids, 5 senses, and rocks)
