Feature-Rich Data Services Performance SSD Cache Automated Storage Tiering Backup Remote replication Local replication Snapshot Data security SED IDR Storage capacity utilization Thin provisioning SSD Cache Copies hot data to high speed SSD cache pool. Accelerates performance for random read-intensive applications. Automated storage tiering Hot data has higher priority and resides in faster performance tiers. Cold data migrated to lower performance but higher capacity tiers. Optimizes utilization of HDDs, SSDs, and RAID levels to enhance ROI. Remote replication Data backup with synchronous and asynchronous options in WAN, IP, and FC SAN environments . Essential for effective disaster recovery, data backup, or long distance migration. SED (Self-encrypting drives) Unique factory encryption secures data plus makes deletion simple and complete. Helps users avoid data loss due to breaches , theft, and other events. IDR (Intelligent Drive Recovery) Smarter RAID 6 drive clone/replace, data recovery, and media scan. Avoids performance-impacting and time-consuming rebuild. Snapshot 128-target snapshot included, upgradable to 4096 targets. Users can instantly take point-in-time data images and use them as granular recovery points. Thin provisioning Automatically allocates system capacity to applications as needed. "Just-in-time" capacity allocation helps Increase storage utilization.

Q&A

Q&A Why DS 4000 and DS 4000T If customers want a lower cost subsystem in the DS 4000 series, they can choose DS 4000. This is the same strategy that applied to DS 3000 and DS 3000T. What will happen if 16Gb/s FC is connected to 8Gb/s switch or 4Gb/s switch? What about 16Gb FC on 4 in 1 host board? Speed will drop to 8Gb/s or 4Gb/s automatically and this depends on switch speed. Does DS 4000 have SATA SSD muxboard for 12Gb/s SAS? We currently provide 3Gb/s muxboard for SATA SSD. Does 10Gb/s iSCSI host board support RJ45? If customers require this, they can contact HQ. Does Host board combination include 10Gb/s iSCSI host baord + 12Gb/s SAS host board? Will DS 4000 support InfiniBand? We are in the process of planning this.

Q&A What kind of serial cable is included? Because we are releasing an S model and R model, a Y cable comes by default. Can customers mix different types of JBOD? No, they cannot mix different types of JBOD How many JBOD can be connected for one JBOD daisy-chains? Please connect JBOD according to our rules. The first JBOD connects to left hand side JBOD daisy-chains, the second JBOD connects to right hand side daisy-chains, third JBOD connects to left hand side daisy-chains, and so on.

SSD Cache Accelerated read performance for hot data Suitable for random read-intensive applications, such as Microsoft SQL, mail servers, CRM, Oracle database, SAP, and VDI Large SSD cache pool capacity up to 3.2TB (1.6TB per controller) Wear level information to monitor remaining life expectancy Intelligently moves a copy of the most frequently-accessed data from HDDs to SSD Cache. Sequential read data will not be placed to SSD Cache pool Always keep two copies of hot data, in SSD Cache and HDD Simple and intuitive GUI design Application notes:

Automated Storage Tiering Mix different drive types and RAID levels in the same data volume Drive types: SSD, SAS, NL-SAS or SATA (up to 4 tiers) RAID configuration: RAID 1: offers best protection and great performance but least capacity RAID 5 or RAID 6: offers good capacity and protection but least performance Automatically move data to optimum storage tiers based on data hotness 4-level tiering Tier0 High performance SSD Most accessed data High performance SAS Tier1 Large capacity NL SAS Tier2 Large capacity SATA Tier3 Least accessed data Application notes:
