POLITICAL CHANGES  In 2000, Federal law introduced banning smoking on all flights by US airlines.  On March 12, 2002, the Homeland Security Advisory System, was created.  On November 7, 2002, the Jobs for Veterans Act was signed into law. But did not take effect until January 19, 2009.

POLITICAL CHANGES TThe Cellular Phone Law was passed January 1, 2008 TText Messaging Law passed January 1, DD.C. law expands no-smoking area around buildings on July 26, OObama Health Care was passed in 2010.

DREAM ACT  Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors, is an American legislative proposal first introduced in the Senate on August 1, 2001.

HISTORICAL EVENTS THE WAR ON TERRORISM  September 11, Islamic fundamentalist terrorists hijack four U.S. airliners and crash them into the Pentagon and the World Trade Center in New York City. The attack of two planes levels the World Trade Center and the crash of one plane inflicts serious damage to the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, causing nearly 3,000 deaths. The fourth plane is heroically crashed by passengers into a Shanksville, Pennsylvania cornfield when they learn of the plot, preventing destruction of another structure in Washington, D.C., supposed to be the White House or the Capitol building. The plot is attributed to the Al-Qaeda organization led by Osama Bin Laden.

HISTORICAL EVENTS  November 8, The United Nations passes Resolution 1441 in a unanimous Security Council vote which tries to force Saddam Hussein and Iraq to disarm or face serious consequences.  March 19, 2003-The War in Iraq begins with the bombing of Baghdad.  April 9, The U.S. coalition seizes control of Baghdad in the Iraq conflict.  December 13, Saddam Hussein, former leader of Iraq, is captured in a small bunker in Tikrit by the U.S. 4th Infantry Division.  December 15, The war in Iraq ended. U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta officially declared the Iraq War over, at a flag lowering ceremony in Baghdad.

WAR IN AFGHANISTAN  October 7, In response to the tragedy of September 11, the United States military, commence the first attack in the War on Terrorism on the Taliban and Al- Qaeda in Afghanistan.  Right now, our U.S. soldiers are fighting along with Afghanistan soldiers against Al-Qaeda. The government of Afghanistan was highly upset because we did not get their permission to go after Osama. The doctor named Shakil Afridi that helped the U.S. get Osama was imprisoned for 33 years.  Now our soldiers in Afghanistan have to be very careful because of Afghanistan soldiers are turning against the American soldiers and killing them.
