The COLORS Program A means to help us better understand human behavior
COLORS is an understandable way to group people into four personality temperaments and help us learn to recognize, accept, and value differences in others.
COLORS is based on Jungian (Carl Jung) personality theory and has been researched and refined by David Kiersey, Katherine Myers and Isabel Briggs
Jung’s Theory of Psychological Types Behavior…is due to basic differences in the way individuals prefer to use their perception and judgment Behavior…is due to basic differences in the way individuals prefer to use their perception and judgment Perception: ways we become aware of things, people, ideas (take in information) Perception: ways we become aware of things, people, ideas (take in information) Judgment: ways of coming to conclusions about what has been perceived (make decisions) Judgment: ways of coming to conclusions about what has been perceived (make decisions)

Building Relationships and Building Teams – 3 Key Points 1. Communication - Most important skill in life – Stephen Covey - Primary focus on how we listen and the words we use - Positive and respectful words help build positive relationships
COLORS: Relationships 2. Focus on the Individual - We rely on each other to achieve many goals - Every person we meet has knowledge and personal strengths - For success it is important to focus on each person we meet, not their title or status
COLORS: Relationships 3. Building Trust - Trust is foundation of relationships - Trust slow to build, easy to destroy - Sharing information with others based on trust - Build trust with consistency and follow-through
