Group Memberships are Important for Well-being and Performance in Elite Cricket Jodie Green Sport, Leisure and Tourism Showcase Event 23 rd April, London

PhD Partnership England and Wales Cricket Board. Titled - “The Development and Validation of a Psychological Profiling System for Elite Cricket Players”. Researcher: Jodie Green. Supervisors: Dr Tim Rees & Dr Kim Peters.

Positive impact of social connectedness on health and well-being. “As a rough rule of thumb, if you belong to no groups but decide to join one, you cut your risk of dying over the next year in half.” (Putnam, 2000, p.331). Group memberships are also important for: – Health and well-being. – Adjusting to life transitions. Social Connectedness, Health, and Well-being

The more groups players were members of before the programme transition, the more likely they were to: – (a) maintain those group memberships after the transition, – (b) identify with the new group and other group members, – (c) maintain their psychological well-being, and – (d) maintain their performance. Research Hypotheses Multiple Group Memberships Well-being Performance Programme Transition
