HPS Student Conduct Policy A positive school climate and supportive learning environment is everyone’s responsibility. Every student, parent, teacher, administrator, school and district support staff, central office staff, visitor, and community member contributes to a safe and supportive learning environment. It is only with the understanding, collaboration and cooperation of everyone who has a stake in the education of our youth that we can succeed in creating environments that are conducive to optimum academic achievement for all students.

Highline Public Schools Strategic Plan & Targeted Goals Our promise is to know every student by name, strength, and need, so each will graduate prepared for college, career, and citizenship. We are challenging ourselves to ensure that four years from now at least 19 out of 20 students are learning at or above grade level in third grade, passing Algebra by ninth grade, and graduating high school prepared to choose their future. We have pledged to all but eliminate out-of-school suspensions that rob students of learning time.

Highline Elementary Schools OSS Data Per 100 # of Students, # of Events, # of Days of OSS

Highline Middle Schools OSS Data Per 100 # of Students, # of Events, # of Days of OSS

Highline High Schools OSS Data Per 100 # of Students, # of Events, # of Days of OSS

data helps inform Practice Facts · 76% of OSS days are at the high school level · 4% of OSS days are from 18 elementary schools · 20% of OSS days are from the middle schools · 8th and 9th graders generated the highest number of office discipline incidents K-12. Impact ¨ Professional development and support for preventing problem behavior in the classroom will be the focus of summer training. ¨ Supporting school teams to assess culturally responsive practices and alignment with PBIS initiative will also be a priority of summer PD and implementation process for the school year. ¨

HPS Lessons Learned & Next Steps Visibility of PBIS via Recognition & Celebrations Integrating PBIS with District Initiatives and Embed PBIS to Improve Outcomes for ALL – Danielson Framework & Common Core – Equity, Coordinated Sch Health, HIB, Drug/Alc Prev., etc. Invest in Prevention & Improving in Data, Systems, Practices Support Systems for PBIS in the Classroom 3 Year Evaluation Plan – All Schools Action Plan for Implementation – SET, BOQ, MATT Survey Students, Staff, & Families Re-examine implementation plans in High Schools to ensure maximum success

What Works?

Things we’ve learned from Rob… Never stop doing what works Do the smallest thing for the biggest effect Celebrate success Use Data for Decision Making PBIS is a process and takes time Are we doing what we said we would do? FIDELITY Is it benefitting students? PROGRESS MONITOR How do we know? Use DATA for Decision Making My personal favorite… PBIS implementation is gentle pressure applied relentlessly
