Background Section 32 of the NWA defines the ELU Section 22 of NWA – ELU declared as permissible water use Registration of water use (Regs. promulgated, Section 26(1)(c) WARMS database was established Relied on the information provided by the water users

What is Validation?  is the technical process using certain procedures, systems and data to confirm how much water the user was actually using in the qualifying period What is Verification?  determines the extent of existing lawful water use

1 Confirmed ELU that input into future water allocation planning and reforms through licensing. 2 Eradication of unlawful water use, CME cases have a clear factual basis to deal with contraventions. 3 Improved management of water allocations during times of water scarcity. 4 More efficient billing and water use revenue management. 5 Local, regional and national water planning and allocations can be undertaken with greater certainty 6 Updates and corrections to the Water Authorisation and Registration Management System (WARMS) database BENEFITS\PROJECT OUTCOMES
